Employee Training Expert Says That Reliance on E-Learning Leaves Employees Feeling Disconnected

I came across this article today and the subject wasn't surprising. It's actually quite true. As more and more companies are investing into an elearning management solution, it's important that they do not lose focus on the best way to utilize elearning in their organization.

According to Darin Hanks, employee training expert and president of training videos company Employee University, the more companies rely on e-learning as their sole source of training, the more employees become disconnected from their company and they'll lose a sense of comraderie as well.

It's a good article and touches on both the positive and negative of elearning. I'm a firm believer that when a company chooses to embrace e-learning, they should be looking at it as a means to improve the productivity of everyone involved from the trainer to the employees. However, elearning is only part of the picture.

In every situtation, their must also be live, instructor led training... hands on experiential instruction, as well. Elearning should be a compliment to your overall training program and goals and not set out to replace all other types of training and instruction.
